POPS-SUp

RREAL is a partner in the POPS-SUp project: “Implementation of Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA)-based perioperative medicine services to improve clinical outcomes for older patients undergoing elective and emergency surgery, funded by NIHR.

POPS-SUp aims to evaluate the implementation, clinical, and cost effectiveness of CGA-based perioperative care across the NHS using a piloted implementation strategy.

Our RREAL team's role focuses on leading the process evaluation, which involves assessing the fidelity of implementation, stakeholder engagement, and the feasibility and sustainability of POPS services in diverse NHS settings. This includes mixed-methods analysis to understand how well the intervention integrates into surgical pathways and supports improved patient outcomes.

RREAL will also contribute to identifying barriers and facilitators to scaling up CGA-based perioperative services and ensure that findings inform future NHS implementation strategies.
